Matt Blamey

Head Coach

Coach Blamey was named Head Coach for the University of Arizona Men’s Program in June 2017. In only his second season with Arizona, Blamey was named Southwestern Lacrosse Conference's Division 1 Coach of the Year. During his tenure the Wildcats have held a national ranking as high as #12 in the country. Prior to Arizona, Blamey headed up the team at Sierra Nevada College Men’s Lacrosse Program in Lake Tahoe. In his two seasons at SNC the Eagles finished with a combined record of 24-7, capturing two consecutive WCLL Championships. In 2017 Sierra Nevada achieved its highest national ranking ever as the No. 3 seed heading into the MCLA National Championship Tournament.

Prior to SNC Blamey served as Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach for Dominican University in San Rafael, CA. After a successful inaugural MCLA season with Dominican in 2015, Coach Blamey was named the WCLL Division 1 Coach of the Year. He also served as Defensive Coordinator at Sonoma State University for two years before Dominican. 

Prior to relocating to California, Blamey was the founder and head coach of the Northern Virginia Community College Men’s Lacrosse Program (NOVA), the first NJCAA lacrosse program in the state. Before NOVA he spent seven years as the head coach at South Lakes High School in Reston, VA., during which time he was recognized twice as the Liberty District Coach of the Year. 

Growing up playing defense in Northern Virginia, Blamey earned multiple MVP honors as Captain for Gar-Field High School. A four-year varsity starter, he was selected First Team All-Conference three of those years, and was a two-time Virginia Commonwealth Games starter and an All-Met nominee his senior year. After graduating in 1996, he continued his playing career as a defender with the University of Mary Washington. 

After college, Blamey continued competing at a high level as Captain for Team America in the highly competitive Metro Area Box Lacrosse League outside of Washington DC. In 2010 Team America was successful in capturing the Senior A Championship.

Nick Lewis

Offensive Coordinator

Coach Lewis comes to Arizona to lead the offense after spending the last 6 years as a high school head coach in Colorado. In that time, he has turned around two struggling programs, including taking the Ralston Valley Mustangs from being ranked 36th to 12th among Colorado 5A Lacrosse programs in just 3 seasons.

Coach Lewis comes to Arizona to lead the offense after spending the last 6 years as a high school head coach in Colorado. In that time, he has turned around two struggling programs, including taking the Ralston Valley Mustangs from being ranked 36th to 12th among Colorado 5A Lacrosse programs in just 3 seasons.  

He has been coaching since 2001 and has experience at 4 different high schools throughout the country: Chenango Forks in NY, WT Woodson in VA, and Prairie View and Ralston Valley in CO.  As an offensive coordinator at WT Woodson, Coach Lewis won 4 straight Liberty District titles, and one Northern Region championship.  

Prior to becoming a head coach at Prairie View HS in 2016, Coach Lewis has served as an Offensive Coordinator, Defensive Coordinator, and JV Head Coach.   In 2017, Coach Lewis led Prairie View to their first winning season in program history, and the Colorado High School Coaches Association voted to honor the team with the Ken Ranta Sportsmanship Award--as the team that most exemplifies outstanding sportsmanship.

Coach Lewis played at Whitney Point High School where he won back-to-back conference championships and was named First Team All-Conference midfielder.   Coach Lewis played college lacrosse at Broome Community College and SUNY Oneonta where he graduated with a BS in Psychology.  

Coach Lewis is a certified mediation and yoga teacher, a trainer for the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) and a Team 360 Sales Pro for Lacrosse Fanatic.

Shane Carroll

Defensive Coordinator

Coach Shane Carroll is entering his second season with the Wildcats. Prior to Arizona, Carroll served as an Assistant Coach at Vassar College where he worked with the Defensive Midfield and Faceoff Unit. A Native of Poughkeepsie, NY, Coach Carroll attended Arlington High School and received All-Section and All-League Honors as a Long Stick Midfielder. After graduation, Carroll attended NCAA Division III Oneonta State where he served as Team Captain and received All-Conference Honors. After College, Carroll played Transition for the Interstate Box Lacrosse Association’s Newburgh Night Pandas in Newburgh, NY.

Jimmy Maguire

Strength & Conditioning Coach

Coach Maguire has been promoted to Strength & Conditioning Coach after spending the 2021 season serving as volunteer assistant working with the Wildcat goalies. Maguire took charge of Arizona's strength and conditioning program during the summer of 2021 and will continue to do so in addition to working with the goalies and defense.

Coach Maguire has been promoted to Strength & Conditioning Coach after spending the 2021 season serving as volunteer assistant working with the Wildcat goalies. Maguire took charge of Arizona's strength and conditioning program during the summer of 2021 and will continue to do so in addition to working with the goalies and defense.

Coach Maguire played high school lacrosse for highly competitive Poway High School in Sand Diego, CA. During his career Maguire helped Poway win both county and state championships. 

After graduating, Coach Maguire continued his career playing collegiately at Sacred Heart University (Fairfield, CT) and Chapman University in Orange County, CA where he was a perennial WCLL All-Star goaltender.

Prior to Arizona, Coach Maguire served as defensive assistant at Serra High School and has coached with notable programs such as Peak Performance Goalie School and East Meets West.

Hank Bolon

Assistant Coach

Coach Hank Bolon is entering his third season assisting with the Wildcat offense. Coach Coach Bolon grew up in Chapel Hill, NC where he excelled at midfield for perrenial contender Chapel Hill High School. Bolon had a stellar career with the Tigers and was elected as team captain during his senior season. After high school Coach Bolon competed collegiately at NCAA DIII Illinois Weslyan University. Once graduating from IWU, Bolon accepted a career position in Tucson, AZ. Prior to joining the staff at UofA, Coach Hank coordinated the offense at Mountain View High School.
